Odd ways to get a character to the maximum level are plentiful in World of Warcraft. But the Youtuber Dr. Five has chosen a very special way to level: He killed boars, boars and more boars in the game.
Dr. Five took the South Park episode Make love, not warcraft as a role model and leveled a character in WoW: Classic to level 60 by gaining experience only by killing boars.
Make love, not warcraft
Although Dr. Orienting Five to South Park in his boar challenge, he couldn’t reach the maximum level just like Cartman, Kyle, Stan and Kenny by killing boars in Elwynn Forest. The reason: low-level opponents no longer grant experience points at some point.
What rules did Dr. Five the Boar Challenge? Dr. Five imposed certain rules for the Boar Challenge:
- He is only allowed to kill boars – this includes the spiny liver in the Klingenhauer hill (without them, according to Dr. Five in Classic, the challenge would not have been possible).
- He cannot let other players help him.
- He may not gain experience points from quests or killing other opponents.
- He can tackle the challenge with a rested character (double experience points), but otherwise cannot use XP bonuses.
How long did it take? It took the Youtuber 9 days and 18 hours of in-game play time to level a character at level 60 by killing boars. Because he says he has a full-time job, the entire challenge dragged on for around two months. He killed a total of 10,655 boars.
Dr. Looking back, Five described the challenge as »Extremely boring«
If you want, you can watch the recordings in a playlist – but Dr. Five points out that watching all videos would be more insane than the challenge itself.
From herb pickers and iron men: more curious WoW level challenges
If you from crazy and fun level challenges in World of Warcraft can’t get enough, take a look at these variants:
Leveling by collective occupation – The non-attached pandare Double agent cracked the maximum level 120 in Retail-WoW in October 2018 by only mining herbs and ores on the Pandaren island. The pandare became so famous that Blizzard created a memorial for him in the monks’ hall with WoW: Legion in the form of the NPC »Venerable Shaman«.
Level up through pet fights – One player leveled a night elf in WoW: Legion to pet level battles to the maximum level of 110 at the time. Almost 800 pets reached level 25.
Level up with the Iron Man Challenge – The website wowchallenges.com offers players the opportunity to take part in various leveling challenges, including the so-called Iron Man Challenge. The Iron Man Challenge is to take a character to the maximum level without dying. In addition, you are only allowed to wear equipment of maximum white quality, among other restrictions.
