SEGA announces a Sonic livestream in Japan

oriXone March 17, 2021 No Comments

2021 is Sonic’s 30th birthday. While fans of the Blue Hedgehog are already familiar with some multimedia projects and other derivative products being developed on the sidelines of the anniversary, they still don’t know what’s going on in relation to video games. Because of this, an upcoming event is intriguing.

SEGA has just announced the airing of a new episode of its online mission in Japan on Sunday March 21st Sonic Station LIVE!

. This mission, which begins at 11 a.m. Paris time, has not yet seen its detailed content. One may wonder, therefore, whether SEGA will take this opportunity to make one or more announcements. And if so, the type of ad in question.

Although it cannot be completely ruled out that SEGA will make a game announcement during this mission, it still seems advisable to measure expectations. Sonic is a particularly popular character in the West and especially in the English-speaking world. It would be surprising if SEGA fired its cartridges during this “simple” Japanese stream. However, fans of the mascot of the Japanese publisher can see the thing out of the corner of their eyes.

New games, but when?

For information only, SEGA has indicated that this is new Sonic Station LIVE! will have a special guest in the person of Yki Aoi, a voice actress who has worked on many cartoons and video games (for example, she played Futaba in the Japanese version of Persona 5). However, it is currently unknown whether or not this involvement is linked to a particular project.

As a reminder, Paramount and SEGA have just started production on Sonic, The Film 2. Netflix recently formalized the Sonic Prime animated series. Additionally, a few months ago, Dark Horse Books and SEGA announced the marketing of a Sonic encyclopedia celebrating the character’s 30th birthday, while LEGO unveiled a Sonic Mania-inspired set.

As for the video game, SEGA hasn’t revealed anything yet. However, the publisher has repeatedly indicated that they are preparing several games for their fetish hero’s 30 years. However, the announcement of these titles has been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Do you think SEGA will be going live during this Sonic Station! ? Or do you think they’ll save this type of ad for a more international event? What types of games do you think the publisher will offer for the 30 years of its mascot? Tell us everything in the comments below.
