Tomb Raider: Symphony of the Dark Angels is a remake of the original soundtrack of Tomb Raider by the original composer Peter Connelly and is now available on music streaming services.
The new studio album features the original adaptations of Connelly's adaptations of Tomb Raider's 4, 5, and 6, with the help of a group of die-hard Tomb Raider fans Under development, they launched the project last year.
But this is not a direct copy of the original Tomb Raider game scores, as the music was re-arranged using techniques that were impossible to use 20 years ago.
"The Dark Angel Symphony is actually a combination of four albums," Ash Kapriélov, the project's co-producer, told me via email.
"The main track (called" Dark Angel Symphony ") is a collection of selected" Tomb Raider "tracks that were reimagined and reorganized by Richard Niles and then performed by the orchestra. The other 3 Is a remake of the original track ("Remake is a process, when they make the song sound good on modern hardware, etc. so that the song won't change, but the way the sound improves)" from Tomb Raider 4, 5 and The Dark Angel.
"The main difference between the tracks is that the music for" Tomb Raider 4 "and" Tomb Raider 5 "is completely synthesized, so we can rearrange and play some tracks by the actual band. We also have from Tina Guo and Julie Elven's solo track. One of the tracks (played in a nightclub in TR: D ark Angels) was remixed by Pete Hammond. "
Kapriélov first thought of developing the project late at night in 2016. "I was living in a friend's house in London at the time. We spent the night at Tomb Raider. I thought of the idea of making concerts and Peter Connelly music albums. Really, I always had crazy ideas at night."
After tracking Connelly online, Kapriélov sent him the offer at 2am. "I finally managed to fall asleep, and then at 9 am, I walked into the living room and all my friends were eating breakfast. I had a big Cheshire cat smiling on my face, holding a phone in my hand, explaining to me Peter provided something, he said yes!
When I asked what initially attracted him to the project, Caprilov told me how important the Tomb Raider series was in his life. Caprilov grew up with his own admission. "In a very dirty place, homosexuality is illegal."
"My childhood and teenage years were very difficult. The place where I was was not so open that I could be imprisoned for who I am and severely bullied at school."
Things didn't change until he had his first PC in 2000. He went on to say that he bought Tomb Raider: Chronicles, which "absolutely attracted me."
"This time, my mental health and depression have become more severe, and sometimes I feel very suicidal. I have few other friends besides friends I met online, playing those huge and complicated in the Tomb Raider series The level gave me the sense of escapism that I really needed. I don't think I would have survived those years without Tomb Raider.
"I really doubt that if it weren't for video games, would I achieve everything I have now."
Tomb Raider: A list of 38 songs in "Symphony of Dark Angels", all of which were recorded at London's famous Lindhurst Studio. The album was officially recognized by Square Enix and Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics.
