Responsible for Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo, Jurassic World Evolution and future titles related to Formula 1, Frontier Developments is now working on the creation of a real-time strategy game.
No public communication has been made yet, and it is through a official publication carried out on the Frontier site that we learn that a game of this type is under construction. This STR, thanks to an agreement with Games Workshop, will be based on Warhammer, and more particularly on the Age of Sigmar version.
We are delighted to announce this license with Games Workshop. Personally, I think it's great news that two of these well-established, world-class British designers are collaborating on a new project. We are looking forward to working closely with the Games Workshop team to introduce the wide world of Warhammer Age of Sigmar to a wide audience, thanks to an immersive real-time strategy game, accessible on PC and console.
On the side of Game Workshop, it is Jon Gillard, world license manager, who spoke:
As Warhammer becomes a growing brand, and our legions of fans around the world are looking for exciting ways to experience the splendor of our surroundings, we are always looking for the highest quality partners to work with. Frontier is exactly a company like this, with an incredible heritage, and an innovative development capacity, clearly demonstrated by their convincing vision for this game. It will be the first RTS game in the fantastic and epic world of Age of Sigmar, which is the kind of game that Warhammer and strategy fans are asking for. I think the Frontier team is perfect for taking on this great responsibility and doing it justice.
However, you will have to be patient before discovering the first images and mechanics of the game, its release can only occur in three years.
