Human NPCs, factions and a completely new story campaign: With the free Wastelanders DLC for Fallout 76, Bethesda has big plans, stoked hope and raised many questions.
How extensively and well does Bethesda reactivate the strengths of Fallout 3 and Fallout 4? What is the new campaign good for? How suitable is Fallout 76 for solo role players? And last but not least: How smooth and bug-free does the multiplayer fallout including Wastelanders addon run?
We already answer many of these questions in our detailed Plus Preview for Fallout 76: Wastelanders, for which Michael Graf Wastelanders has already played through completely. For a final conclusion, then a test and rating

Fallout 76: Wastelanders played through: Our conclusion after 40 hours
What else do we have to check for the Wastelanders test?
We have already spent over 30 hours with Fallout 76: Wastelanders, were able to play through the entire campaign and examine the most important content – but all of this only on the beta test servers that have not yet been released for a final test. And that's a good thing, because in our opinion an online game should also be tested under live conditions if you want to give a well-founded judgment. What we want to clarify above all:
- How well does Wastelanders work under live conditions? For the atmosphere in particular, it can make a huge difference whether you play in the protected beta test biotope or on open servers.
- How stable and bug-free is the release version? Bethesda updated the beta almost daily, which is completely normal in this development phase. But at the start of sales, users expect the game to be flawless, and that needs to be checked.
- How good is the german version? Bethesda went to great lengths to localize Wastelanders and had all dialogues set to music by professional speakers. So far, we have only been able to check the English version on the beta servers.

How long will it take to get the GameStar test?
It will take a few more days to test all of the above carefully, especially since we have to start a completely new campaign.
We cannot give you an exact date for the test article, especially since a lot will depend on how stable the game and server are. Our goal, however, is you until the end of the week to give a well-founded help for the purchase decision (if you have not yet acquired Fallout 76).
In this context, we will also decide whether or to what extent Fallout 76 deserves an upgrade for the free add-on. Either way we keep you up to date on Fallout 76: Wastelanders at GameStar.de.
