The group feature of WhatsApp makes public groups possible only through a small detour. Strictly speaking, WhatsApp only knows one type of group that you can join by invitation.
However, since other WhatsApp users can also be invited with a permanently valid link, every WhatsApp group is theoretically public. Anyone who receives the link can directly become a member of the group.
Since WhatsApp does not offer a search function for groups, these groups are therefore only theoretically public. And even if you get your hands on the link, the group admin can remove and block you at any time.
On the Internet, however, there are directories for sharing invitation links for WhatsApp groups with a built-in search function. You can easily join a WhatsApp group without having personal contact with one of the members.
Since these invitation links are shared by the operators of the groups on such platforms, this turns them into public WhatsApp groups.
In these instructions we will show you how you can find such public shared WhatsApp groups in German and become a member there. In our example we use the Desktop version of WhatsApp. However, the method shown works exactly on the same principle with a smartphone.
In large public WhatsApp groups with many participants, polls are a practical function for efficiently carrying out votes on certain topics. With our instructions you can easily conduct your own surveys with WhatsApp.
