We recently shared with you the sad news that the Chinese government had banned Animal Crossing: New Horizons across the country, which means sanctions for stores that sell the product and also restrictions on any mention of the game on the Internet.
It appears that the police have been quick to take action. Recent reports claim that several stores that host their businesses in business buildings have received the visit of the authorities, who searched and seized all the copies found of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Stores have also been fined for selling the game, which has been demonized in China for content created by players criticizing the government.
You can see the reports below:
Many brick & mortar game stores in Shanghai were inspected by the government, fined, and confiscated all copies of #AnimalCrossingNewHorizons .
Since this was the only confiscated game the previous smuggler case is possibly unrelated. pic.twitter.com/odZs5b6JGw– Chinese Nintendo (@chinesenintendo) April 10, 2020
