Note: The following trailer contains some troubling scenes.
HypeTrain Digital unveiled today The Black Book, a brand new RPG set to arrive on Nintendo switchch and other platforms soon this year.
The trailer for the title announcement that appeared a few minutes ago at the time of writing (which you can see above), gives us a taste of the dark themes we can expect to explore in the final game. It features classic gameplay elements found in card-based RPGs and adventure games, following the "fantasy story of a young witch who gave his life to work for dark energy".
Here's all we know so far thanks to the list of games recently posted on Steam:
A young girl named Vasilisi, determined to be a witch, decides to abandon her victim and marry her lover – but that dream is shattered when her lover dies under mysterious circumstances.
Desperate for his lost love, Vasipala is looking for the Black Book – a demonic symbol, with enough power to give anyone who can unlock all seven of their symbols.
Join Vasilisi on his journey overseas to Russia, as he solves the problems of ordinary people by dealing with demons and doing out-of-date things.
Key Features:
Unlock Seals of Black Book – Unleash hellish spell on your enemies! Collect spelling cards and new skills as you progress.
Historical Adventure – Solve the arrows and full-scale quests to learn more about the cold world of early XIXth Century Russia.
Lead the Demon Group – Send the demons to do what you want, but be careful – the idle demons will hurt you if you don't get something!
Myths – Myths – Explore the world based on North Russian myths. Read through the game's encyclopedia, created with the help of anthropologists – and find all the folk tales hidden inside the game!
No specific release date is set yet, but it is currently scheduled to launch in 2020 as noted above.
