Months ago we saw a new kind of scam, where some users tried to trick Amazon with buying and returned some AMD processors, which between the two operations changed the models using the original or modified IHS but the PCB of the other lower version.
High-end processors and graphics cards with very low cost, advanced claims
The scam that has now come from China and given the number of victims, it cannot be ruled out that this was not done outside that country. Although police reportedly found illegals and graphics cards, the big models were Ryzen 9 3900X and MSI GTX 1080 Ti.
The "modus operandi" is nothing new, in fact very similar to what we have noted on other occasions: PCB replacement is one that is in line with the lower model and the IHS's invention to adapt it to the original processor structures.
In this case, the purchase and sale between users is done by AMD 3000 processors, in which the scammer installs a PCB from the A8 series of AMD itself or similarly to the IHS precision and attached, making it look real.
Logically, when a user clicks the CPU on their board, what they find is a black screen, after which the vendor disappears from the networks and is unlikely to find him.
MSI GPUs are back in the eye of a fake storm
For some reason, MSI products remain the domain of these problems. It is the third time (that is known) that the company has been attacked by scams against its users, where in China they already had enough problems to stop the huge number of counterfeit products that were available in the market.
In today's context the multiplication of their cards is based on the range GTX 1080 Ti, which comes from buying and selling channels at a very low price and is actually a way for any user.
Obviously, replicas are so good that they don't make users suspicious, but when they click on the card they find another completely different graphics chip, this usually ends up pretty much the same.
In the case of CPUs, it is much easier to delid in the transmitted processor and change the IHS, but in the case of GPUs, we are talking about a pre-defined and sold chip on a PCB of Chinese models that are copies of the original model. , which shows that because of the number of users affected by the good and hard work, we're not facing fewer users, but a well-organized Mafia that could send out fake things about buying and selling platforms worldwide.
