Epic Games reported Friday that some users of the Epic Games Store found an error when trying to download free games, such as the one just installed Grand Theft Auto 5. The error shows that there are accounts that can no longer download free games – Epic said this is the mistake it is aware of.
Justification? Unfortunately, you have to wait 24 hours.

The Epic Sports Store has been struggling to keep up with demand GTA 5, which began offering free on Thursday. Just before the game was scheduled to run live on the platform, the servers were knocked offline, almost by the number of people trying to access the website and Launcher. The store remains unstable for four hours on Thursday; Epic certified servers returned online at 11am. EDT, 12 hours after the game initially hit the platform.
Epic Games offers free weekly games on its platform, and has been performing since 2019. Most recently, GTA 5, available until May 21 – but players will be able to save (and play) the game over that day.
