To say that Dialga and Palkia, the two legendary mascots of the original Pokémon Diamond and pearl Games that got a “texture update” is an understatement.
Nintendo released cover artwork for the Nintendo Switch remakes, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl, On Wednesday. The two pictures show the respective title stars in meticulous, almost unpleasant details.
The covers are pretty simple: that for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond shows Dialga with blue light shining from a jewel on his chest and that Pokémon Shining Pearl
The two Pokémon are in the front and center of their respective covers, and there are no other Pokémon next to them. The design is a stark contrast to the style of the two games, which have a cute 3D chibi look. And while providing high quality renderings of game characters for pictures is nothing out of the ordinary, maybe these are a little too detailed.

Another account, Pokemon out of context, also pointed out a strange detail of the Palkia: the creature appears to have fur on its body.
The two Pokémon take on a god-like status in the world of games. Dialga has the power to control the fabric of time while Palkia controls space. So who knows – maybe that’s exactly how it is when you first meet a god up close. In any case, it’s a little uncomfortable.
If you want to see what the two Pokémon will actually look like in the game, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl Come to Nintendo Switch on November 19th.
