Resident Evil 8 Village is announced in Japan without complexes
You are responsible for promoting with a trailer which is surely one of the the scariest episodes of a horror saga like Resident Evil. The ad is aimed specifically at Jap anese audiences, so you decide to hire a 70-year-old Japanese singer-songwriter to record an enka ballad for you while you browse through footage from the game. It’s Japan, my friends.
We don’t understand anything at all, but as we are fascinated by all kinds of advertisements that come from the mind of a Japanese, we sat down to see almost 3 minutes what this nice grandpa, called Yoshi Izuno, take the stage to sell us singing the new Resident Evil 8 Village. You should do the same, you can surely see the new Capcom game from another angle.
To give a bit of context, since there are few additional conclusions we can draw from the Resident Evil announcement, what the man sings about is ‘enka’, a traditional style of Japanese ballads, very popular in the middle of the 20th century. We’re guessing it’s not very fashionable there anymore, which is probably the funniest ad out there, but who knows.
