Arte conceptual de Spelunky 2.

The developers of Spelunky 2 they have announced that right now they are working on multiple functionalities for their independent title so the promised online multiplayer will have to wait until next month.

Mossmouth and Blitworks have been fully dedicated to fixing bugs in offline mode, improving the effects of some attacks and applying balance adjustments to certain mechanics that worked too well or not as well, here you can read

the latest patch notes. However, external functionalities have been slightly delayed due to PS4.

Console problems

According to Mossmouth, programming online multiplayer on the Sony console has proven to be a significant challenge, so they had to rethink a few issues before they could approve the update. In fact, in their initial attempt they could not get games using a PS4 connected to the internet so the work process had to be changed.

This required, according to the study, changing the logic of the game in some respects and running several time-consuming tests. Also, the same matchmaking principle will be used for the PC version, so PS4 has delayed the project in that regard. Now they have found the key so we should expect an online mode for the first days of December.

“Spelunky 2 is not only a game more complex than in magnitude, but its release was also much larger, which means there has been a LOT of comments. It’s something we’re very grateful for and we feel the best way to show it is to listen carefully and constantly patch. “

The game created jointly by Blitworks and Mossmouth has performed well for being an indie, the first installment was very popular with lovers of roguelikes and this second installment has been described as a much better version of the same formula.

Right now it is available on PlayStation 4 and PC, but an announcement for other platforms is not ruled out in the future.
