Bethesda just announced through the official PlayStation blog that his game originally released in 2004 returns with a third version exclusive for PS4 and PS5 with VR functions. DOOM 3: VR Edition will only work with PlayStation VR and comes with the same additions that the 2021 BFG Edition already had.
In other words, it will have its two expansions, Resurrection of Evil and The Lost Mission, for a total of 15 hours of play of this shooter with elements of terror that at the time was the most successful game in Bethesda’s career.
Classic in virtual reality
This port for PS VR was left in the hands of Archiact, a Canadian studio with a lot of experience in AR mobile games, as well as in all kinds of VR experiences. His closest experience to DOOM is a shooter called EVASION that launched on Steam to good reviews.

DOOM 3 had already been “released” in VR for PC, only this is an unofficial mod. The community has enjoyed this version for several years and they speak highly of this version that falls like a glove to a shooter that had certain elements of horror that we no longer usually associate with the franchise.
In addition, in 2004 it was believed that it was a reboot of the saga, although it was later revealed that it was a prequel to the first two installments. Something similar has happened with DOOM and DOOM Eternal which, by the way, have the saga in a very good place.
On the other hand, it is also curious to note that Bethesda continues to publish games on PlayStation, even exclusive since Microsoft does not have its own VR device. Although it is also possible that this publication is due to the fact that the agreement with Archiact is already scheduled before the acquisition by Microsoft.
DOOM 3: VR Edition is coming to PS VR on March 29. It can be played on PS4 and PS5, although the latter requires a special adapter.
